TIBAY Foundation builds resilient families in Michigan and the Philippines through digital literacy, disaster preparedness, and financial capability — one mission, two shores.
TIBAY Foundation, Inc. is a Michigan nonprofit corporation founded in Kalamazoo in 2026 with one mission on two shores: resilient families. In Southwest Michigan, TIBAY serves seniors, immigrant families, and low-income households with digital and AI literacy and scam protection, disaster preparedness, financial capability, transportation, and emergency micro-grants. In the Philippines, working through a locally registered nonprofit partner, TIBAY delivers the same three pillars — digital livelihood, disaster resilience, and financial literacy — to OFW families and out-of-school youth, and provides the Filipino-American community a trusted channel for typhoon relief. TIBAY is volunteer-powered and governed by a three-member board under written conflict-of-interest and financial-control policies, keeping overhead low so that grant funds reach families directly.
Workshops that teach seniors and families to use their phones with confidence — and to recognize and stop scams before money is lost. Taught in the learner's own language, at the learner's pace, where the community already gathers: libraries, churches, and community centers.
Preparedness is the cheapest form of relief. TIBAY helps households build a plan, a kit, and a network before the storm — tornado, flood, and winter readiness in Michigan; typhoon readiness in the Philippines — and stands as a trusted relief channel after it.
Budgeting, banking, and livelihood skills for families living one paycheck from the edge — including Tulong Agad, small, fast, documented emergency micro-grants of $50–$300 that stop a shutoff or a missed prescription from becoming a crisis.
TIBAY measures what it promises: each program defines its outcomes before launch — participants served, skills demonstrated, households assisted, dollars delivered — counts them from sign-in sheets, service logs, and follow-up checks, and summarizes them in a public annual report. Foundation funds are strictly separated from all personal and business accounts; expenditures of $1,000 or more require board approval, and insider loans are prohibited.
